What's involved
The plants I grow are my babies; I make it my mission to nurture them. From the moment I pop them in the ground it’s up to me to keep them happy - that way they’re likely to thrive.
Keeping garden plants good-looking and with a full bill of health means giving them what they need at the right time of year. This means watering and feeding them in times of drought or pruning them to keep them well-shaped and with well-ventilated branches. It puts a smile on my face to be able to give plants exactly what they need.
How we work
Spring
Beautiful bulbs are popping up all over the place as is the fresh green growth of promising perennials and flowering shrubs. My tasks this season include weeding between these prized plants and getting the garden ready for this year's show of flowers.
Summer
Water is the big issue at this time of year- whether it's a lack of it or indeed floods of it. I know which plants prefer drier gardens and which plants are satisfied in soggier ones! It's also the time of year for hanging baskets and containers which I'd love to create for you.
Autumn
With a trusty rake I'm happy to collect up leaves to keep your lawn tidy and healthy. Leaves make an effective eco-ingredient for perfect compost to put on your flower beds. Nature's way to retain heat in the soil for on-going happy roots.
Winter
Yes it's cold but I'm out in the fresh air doing winter tasks (with gloves on I might add!) mulching and pruning fruit trees and roses. At this time of year I can see which stems need to be thinned-out to produce a happy and healthy tree or a thriving hybrid-tea rose.
